Teams take turns during the event walking around the track until replaced by another team member. Teams are made up of fellow employees, family members, organizations or neighbors. Each team member is asked to raise a minimum of $100 in donations to contribute to the fundraising event. The general public, however, is welcome to attend this free event and enjoy the festivities without being registered on a team. Teams host onsite fundraisers, many of which include food and drinks! There is also live entertainment throughout the evening, including musicians, a DJ, and numerous games and activities for children and adults to help keep the energy up all night long! One of the most moving moments of Relay For Life is the Luminaria Ceremony. Small bags with glow sticks can be purchased in Honor of or Memory of anyone who has battled cancer. The names of the honorees are written on the outside of the bags and serve as a reminder of why we are committed to fight against cancer.
