Maureen Folan, has lived in a cottage with her hypochondriac mother, Mag, in the countryside of Leenane, Connemara Ireland for almost her whole life. The two share a dysfunctional relationship, due to Mag’s constant interfering into her daughter’s life, constantly going out of her way to prevent Maureen from leaving the house. When neighbor Ray Dooley’s invitation to a party reaches Maureen and she encounters her old flame Pato, things in the home take a disturbing turn for the worse. The Beauty Queen of Leenane’s subject matter is such that we recommend it to Mature Audiences Only.
